Hello to you from mkiistudios.com, home of the musical entity Elias. The words 'progressive', 'fusion', and 'rock' have been used to describe this music, but I like to think of it more as 'sound track rock' - instrumental music that plays as a sound track; to a film, to a book, to your life.
Life took a turn for the interesting towards the latter half of 2007. A period of evaluation ensued, and from that emerged ideas, including those of a musical nature.
After sifting through demos, I have decided to embark my first solo musical project, that I am tentatively titling ‘The Guitar Hero Project’. The music will be primarily progressive and guitar based, in which I hope to pay tribute to those musicians that have influenced and educated me.
Using this site I will document the process from conception to completion. Who knows? It may be almost interesting...

You can keep track of the evolution of a song here. Sometimes songs change dramatically when recorded, especially after they have been left to mature for some time. Here you can download the demo, and current recording of Elias.

Greetings all,
I’ve created a page for Elias and associated on Facebook. You can check it out here. I will be adding music to this page in due course, there are some files up there now pending approval. Please feel free to visit and become a fan – don’t forget to ask your mates to have a look too!
Cheers :-)

Roland TD3KW/S + BFD2 = WIN! (Monday, 29 September 2008 - day 201)
G'day all,
A brand new Roland TD3 system has arrived at MKII, and I’ve spent some time hooking it up to BFD2. The idea here is to capture a more human way of recording MIDI data to sequence BFD2 with. The TD3 was very easy to set up, although the default sounds in it are pretty terrible, bear in mind that I have been spoiled completely by the quality of BFD2’s samples.
Listening to the default sounds from the TD3 will make you want to setup BFD2 very quickly, which thankfully is quite easy. The boys at Fxpansion have included a TD3 key map already, which was about 80% correct. I have an extra tom pad in my kit, and it was triggering hats for some reason, but this will not be difficult to fix up at all.
I have purchased this kit to ease recording of drum parts, it’s simply much easier to input notes from the kit than it is to draw them yourself. I used to play drums back in the day, so I’m not completely lost at this stage. I have some great drummer friends that I’m sure will be happy to help me out recording some grooves as it is in the future, so now there is an easy way to achieve this.
In short, BFD2 plays beautifully with the TD3, as was to be expected. Once I have some samples for comparison, I’ll post them for your listening pleasure, so stay tuned.
In other news, I have started putting together soundscape material with a new band with former Elias bass player Justin Levis on Chapman Stick. Justin bought a drummer mate of his along who was just fantastic. We had a jam the other night and the results were amazing. We played for 64 minutes straight out of the box, and the music took several interesting turns. I had Pro Tools recording everything on my MacBook Pro, so I will post some samples once I have created a decent mix down – stay tuned for these files as well - it'll be hard to weed defining moments out of this, as we ended up with 95 minutes recorded all up.

What's going on? Anyone?!? (Monday, 22 September 2008 - day 194)
Hello all,
Been absolutely flat out lately, so no time for an update, but I am awaiting delivery of a brand spanking new electronic kit - stand by for more information!
In other news, check out the fabulously talented Kristensong of which I have been fortunate enough to be a part of.
In non-related news, can Hawthorn stop Geelong this Saturday? I think not, but will be barracking for the Hawks regardless!
